Sunny Spring!

It's been a few weeks since my last post. But I have a good reason for delaying.

I decided to upgrade from my iPhone camera and buy a decent DSLR with a zoom.  I had good advice from our friends Carol and John in Somerset, England who are bird and wildlife enthusiasts and travel the world with their Panasonic FZ82 so I just went with the same brand and  model they both use.

I'm happy with the results but I've got so much to learn.  A whole new language.  I used to be in a camera club in the 70's but I have to re-learn.

And like everything today it's wifi and Bluetooth compatible. The wifi is convenient to move photos over to the iPad.  I have no idea what the Bluetooth does!

Remember, if you are reading this  blog post in an email, to see the full size picture, just click on the photo in the email and it will enlarge. Let me know if you have problems

Here are my first test photos taken from the back patio..

Our daily visitor on a frosty morning ...

I went down to the French Creek marina this afternoon to try out the zoom and see if I could find birds and sea lions to capture, they are always there.

The best improvement for me over my iPhone photos is that the zoom brings into focus the mountains in the background .

My first eagle!

Mount Arrowsmith..."our mountain" about 20kms away.

My first eagle in flight. Not great but I'm going to keep trying.

And hopefully this video will work.  Turn up the volume!
