Now that the clocks have moved forward and the weather has turned warmer, we are back walking "the block" after supper, which involves going down a very steep hill, following along French creek and then coming back up another steep hill. So not long in distance but certainly very strenuous.
We live in a quiet rural area, more often than not we don't pass a single car, or human on the walk.
But first, my excitement. I scored my first eagle on the 17th green while sitting on the back patio. A Bit fuzzy because I was zoomed in to the max and so there's a bit of hand shaking, but better than the black blob of an eagle I used to get from my iPhone camera .
I guess I need a tripod now!
This tree was cut down very recently, but they didn't disturb the hobbits house.
Every spring, we love walking past this display of rock plants.
Another plot of land cleared, on a lot backing onto the creek. This tree that was cut must surely have been 100 to 200 years old.
This is not fog, because we are rural, you are allowed to burn garden and farm waste in the spring.
This house used to stand alone with a large expanse of green lawn. They've taken the opportunity of soaring property values, even in our part of the island, to sell and subdivide to build another house in front
A delightfully pruned apple tree. It's been there for many years given the size of the trunk. Apparently the whole area, including our condo complex, used to be one large apple orchard.
Sprinklers on the green behind us, and some of my daffodils
Our annual reminder from the BC Government that we live in a tsunami zone. EarthQuake week is in October. And I also get a reminder in my annual insurance bill of the amount I pay for covering the risks.
The Qualicum airport is about 1 km from us, and in the spring the wildfire service practice manoeuvres around the house. I no longer get flashbacks to the scenes from Apocalypse Now.
And it was a nice warm weekend. Alfresco dining.
