A Sunday In Rathtrevor Park

We've had an exceptionally warm few days, so  on Sunday we went for a walk in Rathtrevor Provincial Park in Parksville.

In terms of campsites, it's apparently the most booked provincial park in BC, we're so lucky that it's a 10 minute drive from us.

Huge news, we've been here for 11 years, and they've finally paved the parking lot, no more potholes ! Not that the old dirt lot was a problem.  And they added speed bumps. (sleeping policeman/gendarme couché for you Europeans...Richard, JV correct me if I'm wrong!)

Anyway, the parking lot was completely full, never seen it so busy, but...there was acres of space on the beaches to socially distance.

It's a 4K walk around the park. A sandy beach part, a more remote pebble beach and a forest in between

A dragon's head tree!

A kite eating tree...

Mountains of Strathcona Provincial Park in the distance north of Parksville.

Call of the wild?

And, for supper, fresh home made tagliatelle with sage and walnut in a butter sauce. Lots more sage for a repeat. Our herb garden is small, but productive.  Lynda came home from the library last week with a new cookbook, "Old World Italian” by Mimi Thorisson, so we had to try this. Thorisson also has a wonderful French cookbook.  Photos and the stories are wonderful, even if you don't cook any of the recipes.
