On sept 17th I saw a brown feathered bird with a long beak, I believe it was hooked. It was stationary on the berm for a minute or two but flew off when I opened the door to photograph it.
Likely off course because of the smoke we've had over the last few days, from the California and Washington State fires. The smoke lasted for about 8 days, finally gone by Sunday sept 20.
Sunday was a blue day. But some clouds came in the afternoon. Brisk wind from the East.
We saw an eagle sitting outside having breakfast. First we’ve seen in a while. Maybe they hide somewhere to avoid the smoke. Mountain tops might be a good place, above the ground level winds
I went up Little Mountain with my nephew Brian, to see the view. No smoke, but clouds to the south west. Clear skies to the north over the strait.
CHEK news had a segment on sand hill cranes sheltering due to cinfudtion of the smoke.
This morning, started clear and cold, about 10 degrees. Cloud coming in from east. Woodpecker in the dead tree infront of the pond. I'm seeing a woodpecker in the eagle dead tree.
